Tim Cheers is the present managing director of Cheers’. The company was previously started by his father Desmond Cheers in 1959 and has been successfully steered at the helm by Tim since his father’s retirement in 1990. His experience and knowledge is exceptionable and he is equally happy to advise on either commercial or marine insurances whilst he continues to meet clients loyal to the business since for over 50 years.
As a member of the Business Class BNI group amongst other networking associations Tim regularly meets other local businesses and community members. A firm believer of charity begins at home he ensures that Cheers support local charities including The Shooting Star, The Greenwood Centre and Linden Hall.
Through his interest in sailing he enjoys cruising in the Solent and further afield when given the opportunity and has worked with the Princes Trust when sailing on a Tall Ship supporting disabled people in the Canary Islands.
Squash, golf and rugby are high on the list for leisure activities for Tim and also taking advantage of the great local restaurants in the area, with a particular fondness for the great British roast.
Alison is responsible for business development and marketing within Cheers Insurance Brokers. Coupled with a background in insurance she provides support for the technical department and has a strong understanding and awareness of market requirements and insurance solutions in the industry.
As a director Alison overseas the day to day activities of the company and consistently demands high levels of customer service and exceeds expectations. Her role also includes managing the development of the staff whilst sourcing further outstanding team members.
Cheers’ are active members of local networking groups including The Richmond Chamber of Commerce, The Best of Richmond and the Athena Network amongst others. Alison also supports the Hampton Hill and Hampton Traders Associations and enjoys the regular meetings with the opportunity to get to know other local business owners. She regularly contributes risk management advice to local businesses through media publications and the web.
With a keen interest in music and theatre, Alison is a member of the Hampton Choral Society and enjoys taking part in rehearsals and concerts. She also attends local theatre, comedy nights and concerts. Outdoor pursuits include a walk with Tim and their dog Molly in one of the local royal parks followed by Sunday lunch at the pub.
Ian Pilgrim joined Cheers Insurance Broker to head up the Commercial Insurance department. During this time he has developed close relationships with many of his clients and is known for his impartiality and balanced point of view when advising on insurance maters.
Since his insurance career started in 1987 he has acquired a wide breadth of invaluable knowledge and is able to advise on both commercial and home insurances with a particular emphasis on property insurance for both residential and commercial landlords.
As an active member of local networking groups Ian regularly rises early on a Tuesday morning to join the other members of BNI Tudor. He enjoys the business benefits and on a more personal level at regular social events and meetings. Ian also contributes locally in Hampton Hill and was seen not long ago competing in the Santa Dash at the high street Christmas tree lighting event. He also represents Cheers’ as a competent golf player.
Away from the office Ian has a keen interest in sports and in particular in football. He can often be found standing on the line helping out with his son’s team or in the stands at a Chelsea match. His other hobbies include reading, music and the occasional drop of Guinness.
